Interstate 29 near Thompson, North Dakota was closed for several hours Wednesday after state troopers discovered potential explosives during a traffic stop. The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a trooper stopped a vehicle around 8:45 a.m., and during a search found what appeared to be explosive materials. I-29 was immediately shut down for safety reasons and the Grand Forks Bomb Squad was called to the scene. Lieutenant Ryan Panasuk would not confirm whether actual explosives were found. The interstate reopened around 1 p.m. after being closed for approximately four hours.
