In an effort to expand access for patients, significant changes to North Dakota’s medical marijuana program will take effect August 1st, as first reported by Michael Achterling from the North Dakota Monitor. The biggest change allows low-dose THC edibles – specifically square-shaped lozenges containing no more than five milligrams of THC per serving.
Other changes include allowing telemedicine appointments for initial medical marijuana evaluations and extending card renewals from one year to two years. Dispensary officials say edibles have been the most requested product since the program began, especially among elderly patients.
Last year, the state’s medical marijuana sales totaled over $22 million with more than ten thousand patient cards issued.
