A Cass County woman is suing the creators of Roblox, claiming she was targeted by a predator while using the popular gaming app as a teenager.

As first reported yesterday by InForum and Valley News Live, the 19-year-old woman from  has filed a federal lawsuit this week, saying the company failed to protect her from online predators when she was just 13 years old.

The woman alleges she was groomed by a man posing as another teen while using the platform, according to court documents.  She alleges the man persuaded her to send explicit photos and later used artificial intelligence tools to create more images without her consent.

Roblox, based in California, is one of the world’s most popular online gaming platforms. It lets users, many of them children, create and play games while chatting with others in virtual worlds.

The lawsuit claims Roblox didn’t have enough safety checks to prevent adults from contacting minors. Company officials have not publicly commented on the case.

The lawsuit joins similar legal efforts across the country. In Kentucky, the attorney general recently sued Roblox, saying the company has failed to protect children from predators and lacks effective content filters and age safeguards. There are also lawsuits in Louisiana and other states.
