R.A. “Rob” Brown, Jr., a legendary figure in the cattle and horse industries, has passed away at the age of 89. Owner of the historic R.A. Brown Ranch in Texas, Brown was known for his leadership in both the registered and commercial cattle business as well as the Quarter Horse industry.
Over his lifetime, he received numerous honors, including the AQHA and NCBA Remuda Award, the Beef Improvement Federation Seedstock Producer of the Year Award, and induction into both the AQHA Hall of Fame and the Saddle and Sirloin Portrait Club.
Brown was deeply involved in service and leadership across the industry. He held key roles such as president of the American Simmental Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association, where he also served as a director. Recognized as a pioneer in hybrid and composite cattle breeds like SimAngus and Hotlanders, his innovations left a lasting mark on the livestock community.
