Near blizzard conditions will persist Tuesday evening across far southeastern North Dakota and the southern Red River Valley, according to the 6 p.m. forecast discussion from the National Weather Service of Grand Forks.

Falling and blowing snow will bring winter impacts in Minnesota for locations along and south of Highway 2 through the evening. Wind gusts reaching 45 miles per hour combined with moderate to heavy snow are creating hazardous conditions in southeast North Dakota, according to the NWS.

The winter weather advisory has expired for Barnes and Cass counties as conditions improve in northeastern North Dakota. The portion of I-94 that was closed has now reopened, but no travel is advised. I-29 from Grand Forks to Fargo has reopened (still no travel advised), but I-29 from Fargo to SD remains closed.  The main bands of snow have shifted southeast of Fargo, with hazardous conditions expected to continue for several more hours in far southeast North Dakota and west-central Minnesota until the system moves east.

Below normal temperatures will follow this system, with several chances of light snow in the forecast.
