Healthcare in Jamestown has reached a new level of excellence, thanks to the prioritization of the backbone of the industry: nurses. Jamestown Regional Medical Center has been designated a Pathway to Excellence facility by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, becoming the first and only healthcare facility in North Dakota to earn this national honor.

The designation recognizes organizations that give nurses a strong voice in patient care, support professional growth, and prioritize caregiver well-being, according to a press release from JRMC’s Cami Hirst. JRMC Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer Trisha Jungels says the recognition reflects the hospital’s commitment to supporting, empowering, and listening to nurses—which directly improves patient care.

Nurses at JRMC offered their input during a comprehensive two-year evaluation and application process, responding to surveys measuring workplace culture and nursing satisfaction. This culture of supporting the nurses that make high-quality healthcare possible shows JRMC takes care of not just its patients, but also its staff. The designation requires renewal every four years.

Studies show healthcare organizations with strong nursing environments experience better patient outcomes, including improved safety, higher quality care, and greater patient satisfaction. The designation also helps JRMC attract and retain skilled nursing professionals, strengthening local healthcare services for the Jamestown community and surrounding region.

“This honor is a testament to the collaborative culture that our nurses live and breathe every day,” said Clinical Support manager Jillian Hildebrandt. “It reflects our shared commitment to excellence and making a meaningful difference for every patient who walks through our doors.”
