Authorities have identified an Oregon man who died following a brief highway pursuit in Grand Forks County Friday night.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a trooper attempted to stop an erratic driver on I-29 just before 6 p.m. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Titan Newton, fled the scene but became stuck in the median a mile later.

Officers found Newton dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Investigators confirmed no law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the incident.
