Jamestown residents were shocked by the wreckage left after a three-vehicle pileup occurred on 4th Avenue Northeast, at around 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. A Streeter woman was hospitalized after an apparent medical episode caused erratic driving, leading to the crash, according to Lt. Nick Hardy’s statement to the Jamestown Sun.
Police say the 62-year-old was driving north on Fourth Avenue Northeast when her vehicle suddenly accelerated, striking a parked car and a pickup truck. The impact caused the woman’s KIA to flip onto its side.
Lieutenant Nick Hardy tells the Jamestown Sun that investigators believe the driver suffered a seizure or similar medical event and did not act maliciously. She was transported to Jamestown Regional Medical Center for treatment.
