A Mandaree man is facing a felony murder charge following a stabbing at a casino on the Turtle Mountain Reservation early Saturday morning, as first reported by KFYR.
Authorities arrested 58-year-old Rigoberto Mendez-Morales after a 911 call reporting an incident at the Sky Dancer Casino and Resort was received around 6 a.m.. Investigators say a woman was stabbed to death in what tribal leaders described as a “senseless act of domestic violence”.
Mendez-Morales is currently being held at the Rolette County jail as the FBI and tribal police continue their investigation. Federal charges are expected to be filed. The incident seems to not be connected to the Sunday homicide on the Spirit Lake Reservation.
