A man accused of killing a six-year-old and severely injuring her mother in an allegedly alcohol-involved crash has signed a plea deal, according to WDAY. Travis Bell, 45, rear-ended the family’s vehicle near the Grand Forks airport in 2024, killing Katarina Louthain. Police said Bell’s blood alcohol concentration was 0.13 at the time of the crash. Judge Sandberg initially ruled breath test evidence inadmissible, leading to protests and a ND Supreme Court opinion overturning his decision. The trial was expected to begin tomorrow. If the plea deal is accepted by the judge today, Bell could receive between 3 and 6 years in prison.
