The ND Monitor reports that the North Dakota state government is seeking applicants for two vacancies on the North Dakota Ethics Commission, a powerful constitutional body responsible for investigating the ethical conduct of public officials and lobbyists.

The application window is open until 5:00 p.m. on April 30th.

The selection committee consists of the Governor, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Minority leader. The applicants will be filling spots to be left vacant by Chair Cynthia Lindquist, who is relocating to Colorado, and Mark Western, who is eligible and applying for reappointment.

The Commission says that applicants do not need a background in law or government, meaning they are looking for a diverse pool of applicants from a variety of fields. There are certain legal exclusions: you cannot serve if you are currently a statewide elected or appointed official, a candidate for statewide office, a registered lobbyist or political party official, or an employee of the legislative branch.

Commissioners are paid for every day they meet, and are reimbursed for travel.

Interested residents must submit their application through the North Dakota Boards and Commissions portal: apps.nd.gov/gov/boards
