The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for Eastern North Dakota, effective until 7:00 p.m. CDT this evening, due to a dangerous combination of high winds and low humidity.
Residents in eastern North Dakota are urged to exercise extreme caution, as any fire that ignites today will likely spread out of control with extreme speed.
It is vital to check current restrictions before burning, as a Red Flag Warning automatically triggers specific local restrictions in many jurisdictions. Stutsman County is currently rated as having high fire danger, which prompts restrictions for:
- Campfires
- Controlled Burns (i.e. wood piles, tumbleweeds, tree piles, ect.)
- Controlled Burns Must Be Called In Beforehand
- Cropland/Ag Burning
- Garbage/Pit Burning
- Grills Charcoal/Smokers
- Grills Gas/Smokers
