The North Dakota State Patrol is on the hunt for a driver who fled the scene of a crash late Sunday night after plowing through a fence and driving into a field. They are currently asking for the public’s assistance in finding this individual.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:30 p.m. on April 26, at the intersection of Highway 46 and 157th Avenue Southeast.

According to troopers, a white Ford Escape was traveling south on 157th Avenue Southeast when it failed to stop at a stop sign. The vehicle then crossed over Highway 46 at a high rate of speed, crashed through a barbed wire fence, and came to a stop in a nearby field.

A witness told investigators that the driver then re-entered the vehicle, drove through the field, then fled south on 155th Avenue Southeast.

Law enforcement was unable to find the SUV the night of the incident but did recover vehicle debris and a paper dealer license plate at the scene.

The public is asked to look for a White Ford Escape with front-end damage. It also may have barbed wire hanging from the undercarriage or front bumper.

If you find a vehicle matching this description, call 911 immediately–do not approach the driver. Anyone with information is asked to contact the ND State Patrol at 701-328-2447 or by email at ndhpsafetyedu@nd.gov.
