A house fire in Gackle claimed the life of a 69-year-old resident on Saturday afternoon, according to the Jamestown Sun.
First responders were dispatched to the residence at 507 Main St. at 4:04 p.m. after a neighbor noticed smoke venting from a kitchen area. Deputy Kyle Friez of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office said that the investigation revealed that the fire started in the living room near a couch before spreading through the rest of the home. No foul play is suspected.
Fire crews prevented the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings, and extricated the victim from the structure, according to reports. Crews remained on scene for about 2.5 hours. Authorities identified Ranee Vyvyan of Gackle as the victim. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
