Two young women are seriously injured after a DUI rollover crash three miles north of Christine last night, according to the State Patrol. A cellular emergency crash detection system alerted first responders to a potential crash on Highway 81 at approximately 11:35 p.m.. A Honda Civic was found crashed at the scene.
Investigators were able to determine that the Honda was traveling north at a high rate of speed on County Road 81. The vehicle apparently failed to negotiate a westward curve, causing the car to enter the ditch, where it vaulted and rolled. Both occupants were seriously injured in the crash. The 20-year-old driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was transported via AirMed to Sanford Hospital in Fargo, and the 19-year-old passenger, who was wearing a seatbelt, was transported by ambulance to the same hospital. The driver is from West Fargo and the passenger is from Moorhead, according to NDHP.
The driver was charged with driving under the influence and criminal vehicular injury. The crash remains under investigation.
