Jamestown’s ‘Running of the Pink’ is less than three weeks away, with the event scheduled for Saturday, June 6.
It’s the 19th year of the charitable race, with proceeds from registration and sponsorships being given to support breast and cervical cancer research and awareness in Stutsman County.
Jamie Walton helps organize the annual event, which is sponsored by the RM Stoudt car dealership in Jamestown. Walton says that planning process is a year-round effort involving many people.
“Planning for Running of the Pink is all year long,” Walton tells KSJB Radio. We really start hitting it hard in January, February, and even a few weeks after the event.”
This year’s events include a 10K race, a 5K race, and a 5k walk. There’s also a virtual event for those who’d like to participate online, with signups for that already coming in from across the country.
“We our first registrants this year, she is from Tennessee,” Walton says. “I’ve had people register from people in Arizona (and across) the Midwest as well.”
Walton says Running of the Pink has raised nearly $400,000 in its history to support local organizations helping fight cancer affecting women. Organizations benefited this year include Jamestown Regional Medical Center and Central Valley Health District’s ‘Women’s Way’ and ‘No Excuses’ programs.
Registration for the event is open at RunningOfThePink.com, with registration available at RM Stoudt in Jamestown and at the KSJB Radio Station at the Buffalo Mall.
