A juvenile bicyclist was seriously injured in a crash earlier this week in Carrington.  The North Dakota Highway Patrol says it happened Wednesday evening on 2nd Street South.

The NDHP says the bicyclist was coming out of a parking lot and was hit by an oncoming Jeep.  That vehicle was driven by a licensed minor and according to reports it appears the driver didn’t see child riding the bike before impact.

The injured juvenile was taken first to the Carrington hospital, then flown by Sanford AirMed to Fargo.  There is no immediate update on their status.

The Jeep driver was not hurt.  Troopers say the driver was wearing a seat belt. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet.

The names of the juveniles will not be publicly released per disclosure and privacy laws.

The crash remains under investigation with the NDHP being assisted by the Carrington Police Department and Foster County Sheriff’s Office.  No charges have been filed.
