Jamestown Opens New Bridges at Three City Parks

Three new pedestrian bridges are now in place at Jamestown parks.

The City of Jamestown and Jamestown Parks and Recreation marked the bridge replacement project with a ribbon cutting at Klaus Park, with help from the Jamestown Area Chamber of Commerce.

The project replaced aging bridges at Klaus, McElroy and Nickeus parks.

City officials say the new bridges are wider, improve access and should make long-term maintenance easier.

The Klaus Park bridge dated back to 1908. The Nickeus Park bridge dated back to 1909, and the McElroy Park bridge was built sometime after 1957.

The city and Parks and Recreation worked together on the replacements, including at Klaus Park, where the bridge connects city property with park district property.
