North Dakota Early Ballot Count Tops 31,000 Ahead of June Primary

Jun 4, 2026 | 6:34 AM

The North Dakota Monitor is reporting this morning on early voting numbers across the state, with early indicators showing increased turnout compared to the last mid-term election cycle.

The Secretary of State’s latest count shows more than 31,000 ballots have already been cast ahead of Tuesday’s primary.  That includes about 24,800 absentee and vote-by-mail ballots returned statewide, along with about 6,300 early in-person votes.

For comparison, North Dakota’s 2022 midterm primary finished with just over 51,000 ballots cast before Election Day, and about 106,000 ballots cast overall.   Analysts now expect North Dakota to far surpass the 2022 early totals, with in-person voting continuing this weekend.

Information on early voting locations in your area are available on the Secretary of State’s website.

Election Day is Tuesday, June 9th. Results will remain unofficial until county canvassing boards certify them later this month.
