The Stutsman County Fair opens Wednesday, and fairgoers may want to keep rain gear handy, especially later in the week.

The National Weather Service forecast for Jamestown calls for a cooler, breezy opening day Wednesday, with a high near 70. There’s a chance of rain showers in the afternoon, and a chance of showers and thunderstorms early Wednesday evening.

Thursday looks like the best weather day of the fair. Expect mostly sunny skies, a high near 73, and light northeast wind.

Rain chances increase Friday. Showers are likely during the day, with a high near 71. A chance of showers and thunderstorms continues Friday night.

Saturday looks like the wettest and windiest day. The forecast calls for showers and thunderstorms likely, a high near 76, southeast winds from 17 to 25 miles per hour, and gusts as high as 39.

The Weather Service in Bismarck says shower and thunderstorm chances increase Friday into the weekend, with strong to severe storms possible.
