Carrington, Fort Totten Projects Receive AARP Community Grants

Two area projects are among this year’s AARP Community Challenge grant recipients in North Dakota.

Rainbow Gardens in Carrington will receiving funding for accessibility improvements at the public garden. Those include new concrete walkways and places to rest, making it easier for older adults and people with mobility concerns to move through the garden near downtown services.

The Rainbow Gardens is celebrating their groundbreaking today at 4:30 with a ceremony on site.

In the Devils Lake area, Spirit Lake Senior Services in Fort Totten is also receiving a grant. That project’s funding will add high-speed internet, computers and printers at two senior centers, with guided workshops for adults 50 and older.

The AARP announced $122,149 in funding for multiple projects throughout North Dakota.
