Severe weather could impact the James River Valley this afternoon and evening, with the areas further east expecting even stronger storms.
The National Weather Service says the storms will begin to develop in eastern North Dakota in the late afternoon, with chances of heavy rainfall and golf ball-sized hail possible if the situation is right. Winds are expected to produce 50+ mph gusts through storm period this evening.
The storms are likely to strengthen as they move eastward, with Lisbon, Fargo, Grand Forks all in an area of elevated risk. People in eastern South Dakota and western Minnesota should also prepare for dangerous storms tonight.
It will also be hot again today, with temperatures expected in the 90s across southeastern North Dakota. The Edgeley, Ellendale, and Oakes areas may see heat approaching triple digits by mid-afternoon before the storms arrive.
Isolated to scattered storms are expected throughout the week, as the humid summer air makes conditions ripe for rapidly changing conditions across the region.
