West Fargo attorney Lisa Edison-Smith has been appointed to the North Dakota Ethics Commission.
The appointment follows a Tuesday morning meeting of the selection committee, made up of Governor Kelly Armstrong, Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, and Senate Minority Leader Kathy Hogan.
Edison-Smith was one of two remaining finalists for the seat, along with state Insurance and Securities Department attorney Garrett Bryan.
She replaces Ron Goodman, a former judge with ties to Oakes, Dickey County, and LaMoure County, who announced he would retire once a successor was chosen.
The Ethics Commission handles state ethics rules, complaints, and advisory opinions tied to transparency and accountability in North Dakota government.
The North Dakota Monitor has a feature story on her appointment today online.
