A 21-year-old Jamestown angler caught an incredibly rare bright golden walleye and is celebrating the catch of a lifetime.

Ethan Bear was fishing with friends on a lake in eastern North Dakota on July 10th when he caught the 27 inch fish. The name of the lake was not shared to protect the wildlife. The golden color does not indicate a different species, rather a genetic mutation. Bear took quick photos before releasing the fish back into the water. He said the chance of catching one is “roughly 1 in a million to 1 in ten million.”
