Michael Achterling from the North Dakota Monitor reports that federal election monitors will be present at several Cass County polling locations this Tuesday’s Election Day. This is reportedly part of a large oversight effort covering all 50 states, increased significantly from 2022’s midterms, in which observers were sent to only 24 states.

Local election officials confirmed the Department of Justice’s plans, telling the ND Monitor that seven sites across Cass County will have monitors observing voting procedures, ensuring federal law is being complied with.

Similar to the ACLU, Native American Rights Fund, or League of Women Voters that also dispatch observers, federal poll observers are required to follow North Dakota regulations to not interrupt voters within 100 feet of a polling location.

These individuals will be wearing an election observer sticker, and will watch to ensure the election is running smoothly.

Stutsman County polling locations:

  • Jamestown Civic Center (Jamestown) – The Vote Center is open to all residents and will be open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on election day.
  • American Legion (Medina) – This precinct-specific polling location is only for residents who reside in precinct ‘472910’ located in the western part of the County. Polls will be open from 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM on election day.
