The operator of a Dickinson daycare has pleaded guilty to child neglect after an infant suffered severe bite injuries under her care. A January incident at Tiny Toes Daycare left 7-month-old WrenLee Craig with injuries that required her to be hospitalized.
William Craig, Wren’s father, spoke in a press release on his loss of trust in others to care for his daughter. “Nothing was the same after that day. What happened at the daycare under Jen’s watch and supervision changed everything on how I look at people around my family. I no longer trust anyone.”
On November 2nd, Jennifer Michelle Eilts entered a guilty plea for felony child neglect and for operating an unlicense child care home, a misdemeanor. Eilts was sentenced to two years of supervised probation with suspended jail time, and is barred from working in any role supervising children during that time.
Wren’s mother, Brittney Theurer, said the family’s choice to make the case public was in effort to prevent more harm from being done: “I cannot change what happened to my daughter, but I can be her voice and advocate for other children who cannot speak for themselves.”
