Gas prices have fallen back below $4 a gallon in North Dakota, as crude oil prices surge towards $100 a barrel again on Wednesday.
AAA reports the average for regular unleaded was $3.96 per gallon, down 15 cents from a week ago, and flat month-over-month. The price is still over a dollar higher than last year, and $1.50 higher than when Iranian war began.
Diesel fell back under $5 a gallon in the state, now averaging $4.92. That’s down nearly 50 cents from the May high, and down about 20 cents from a month ago. Diesel prices are $1.50 higher than last year at this time, and nearly $2 higher than before the middle east conflicts expanded.
The lowest prices are currently in the Fargo area, with prices in Stutsman County and the rest of the eastern I-94 corridor remaining inflated. The highest prices are in the southwest part of the state, with Sioux County reporting nearly $4.45 per gallon, a near record-high.
News of intensified conflicts on Wednesday morning in Middle East and Strait of Hormuz sent crude oil prices soaring to nearly $100 a barrel, with Wall Street analysts expecting gas prices to rise again in the coming weeks.
