PSC To Consider Dakota Spirit Ag Electric Service Items Today

Jun 24, 2026 | 7:16 AM

The North Dakota Public Service Commission is scheduled to consider two electric service requests tied to Dakota Spirit AgEnergy near Spiritwood today.

Both requests come from Otter Tail Power Company. One asks the PSC for a certificate to extend electric service to the ethanol biorefinery. The other asks commissioners to approve an electric service agreement.

In PSC filings, Otter Tail says Dakota Spirit AgEnergy is currently served by Great River Energy, but that service arrangement is expected to end. Otter Tail says it already serves other industrial customers at Spiritwood Energy Park and has existing infrastructure in the area.

Dakota Spirit AgEnergy is part of the Spiritwood Energy Park and is an important piece of Stutsman County’s ag-energy economy. The facility turns corn into ethanol and other co-products.

Commissioners could decide whether Otter Tail’s service extension is needed and whether the electric service agreement should be approved.
