The National Weather Service has confirmed that two tornadoes touched down in western North Dakota Sunday evening, when a severe weather outbreak hit the state.

The first tornado formed just southeast of Bowbells at 8:50 p.m. Sunday, and was rated an EF-1 with maximum wind speeds of 95 MPH. It reportedly knocked over a grain bin and sheared the tops off pine trees then dissipated before the river.

A second tornado was reported as a brief “white rope” tornado south of Berthold at 9:37 p.m. It remained on the ground for about three minutes kicking up dust, and was classified as an EF-Unknown. It caused no reported damage.

No injuries were reported from either tornado, though high winds wrecked campers at Hazen Bay, and one person was injured after a tree fell on a man in a tent, according to KFYR.
