Monday Storms Bring Hail And Wind in North Dakota, Tornado in Minnesota

Monday’s severe weather led to plenty of warnings across North Dakota, but official reports this morning show limited damage across the region.

The National Weather Service confirmed quarter-size hail at Pettibone in Kidder County around 9 p.m. Monday night, and the strongest wind reported was a 62 mph gust was measured west of Churchs Ferry.

Two-inch hail was spotted north of Bismarck and in Mandan, with a 60 mph gust and some minor house damage reported.

Things got a bit worse in Minnesota as the storm strengthened and moved east. Three-inch hail was reported south-southwest of Moorhead and brief tornado touchdown was reported near Flom, Minnesota.

A Wind Advisory has been issued for southeastern North Dakota on Tuesday.   Expect sustained winds around 25 mph and gusts nearing 50 mph.   There also may be isolated showers in the area, but no severe storms are expected today.
