Community Action Region VI in Jamestown is receiving more than $1.1 million in federal Head Start funding.

Senator Kevin Cramer announced the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded $1,134,973 to the Jamestown agency for Head Start projects.  The funding supports early childhood education and other services for eligible children and families.

Community Action Region VI operates Head Start programs in Jamestown and Valley City for children up to five years old. The agency says its program also serves expectant mothers.  There is no cost to families who qualify.

The Jamestown award was part of more than $11 million in HHS grants announced for North Dakota public health, early childhood education, and workforce programs.
