Two North Dakota electric cooperatives are receiving more federal assistance for repairs from the destructive storms of June 2025.
The North Dakota Monitor reports that FEMA has approved nearly $683,000 in its latest round of North Dakota recovery funding.
Northern Plains Electric Cooperative, which has an office in Carrington, will reportedly receive about $348,000. The money will help repair or replace damaged utility poles and electrical equipment. Northern Plains provides power to residents over a large area in east-central North Dakota north of Jamestown.
Nodak Electric Cooperative will reportedly receive about $334,000 for work involving power lines, insulators and poles. Nodak covers customers in the northeast part of the state.
The damage occurred during the severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds that struck North Dakota on June 20 and 21 of last year. Four people were killed during the storm outbreak.
