By Jacob Waltman, KSJB (Jamestown) – On Friday, October 30th, Class AAA and AA will begin their playoff play for the 2026 season. KSJB will be broadcasting our hometown team, the Jamestown Bluejays vs the Kindred Vikings, in a rematch from week four where Kindred beat Jamestown 40-19.
Jamestown Blue Jays (3-6)
The Jamestown Blue Jays started of their season on a high note by beating Wahpeton 36 to 33 but would proceed their opening week win by losing their next five games. Jamestown showed their resilience at the end of the season however, by winning two of their last three, including a 7-2 win over Bismarck St. Mary’s. Jamestown missed out on the playoffs last year and are looking to upset the top team in AA and maybe the top team in any division this year.
Kindred Vikings (9-0)
The Kindred Vikings have been nothing other than dominant in their 2026 football season winning all nine of their regular season games, including a 39-7 win over the #1 ranked team in AAA West Fargo Horace. Before the final week of the season, Kindred had not score less than 35 points, all they way back in the first week of the season. Kindred’s defense has been just as good as their offense as they give up on average just over a touchdown a game at 6.9 points a game. Last year in the playoffs, Kindred would beat Watford City in the quarterfinals 46 to 14, before they would fall to the eventual state champions, Devil’s Lake, in the semifinals 28-27.
Keys to the Game
- Jamestown – Jamestown comes into the playoffs this year just barely squeaking in, and with that said they have nothing to lose, and need to play like it. The Bluejays should take risks that maybe they wouldn’t have taken in the regular season. Jamestown has house money and should use every bit of it! Jamestown needs to keep the ball away from Kindred as long as possible, by either sustain drives on offense or their defense taking it away.
- Kindred – Kindred needs to not overlook this Jamestown Bluejays team, as in their last meeting, Kindred won 40-19, but in the second half the Bluejays outplayed them. If Kindred handles and prepares for the Bluejays just like they have all year for any other team, Kindred should be set up for success. Kindred needs to run the ball effectively to slow down game and keep the ball out of harms way for as long as possible, and keep any momentum that Jamestown could create to a minimum.
