Green Bay Gives Former NDSU Standout Watson Contract Extension

The Green Bay Packers coming off their impressive victory over the Detroit Lions in Week 1 had a name missing from the list of receivers of who caught passes from quarterback Jordan Love.

Christian Watson has been rehabbing a torn ACL injury he suffered in the final week of the season last year against the Chicago Bears, and is expected to miss a good chunk of the season, since the injury occurred so late the season before. Also to go with the stress of coming back from the injury and producing right away, Watson found himself also looking for a new contract after the conclusion of this season.

In response, the Green Bay Packers have already locked down the former NDSU Bison standout Watson for an additional year, in attempts to not rush him back from the injury, and have to worry about producing enough to earn a contract extension to keep him in Green Bay for the foreseeable future. The deal is worth $13.25 Million dollars and will keep Watson on the team through the 2026 NFL Season.

Watson has had a career littered with injuries so far, including shoulders, hamstrings, and the knee injury that has derailed his start to 2025. Through 3 years in the NFL, Watson has played in 38 games, and has brought in 98 passes, for 1653 yards and 14 touchdowns, and when healthy is a speedy, deep threat for Jordan Love. When Watson returns, the Green Bay wide receiver room will become even more crowded with Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Matthew Golden, and tight ends Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft all looking for catches in a game.
