A state committee meets today in LaMoure to review a proposed nonprofit land acquisition.
The state’s Land Acquisition Advisory Committee meets at 1 p.m. at the LaMoure County Courthouse. The agenda includes a proposed acquisition plan from the American Foundation for Wildlife for farmland near the city.
Under North Dakota law, certain nonprofit purchases of farmland or ranchland for conservation must go through a state review process. The law also says the land must be managed for natural areas and habitat.
Today’s agenda includes a public comment periods and Q&A sessions. A vote is expected.
The Land Acquisition Advisory Committee works under the North Dakota Department of Agriculture.
