North Dakota crops made quick progress during a mostly dry week, although soil moisture continues be a concern in some parts of the state.
The latest USDA Crop Progress Report shows spring wheat was 92% headed, nine points ahead of the five-year average. Fifty-eight percent of the crop was rated in good or excellent condition.
Soybeans were also developing ahead of schedule. Twenty percent were setting pods, compared with an average of 11%. Fifty-two percent of soybeans were rated good to excellent.
Corn was 20% silked and 61% was in good or excellent condition.
The report rated 45% of North Dakota topsoil moisture short or very short. Pasture and range conditions were rated 48% good to excellent.
