Fort Ransom State Park will mark its 50th anniversary Saturday with a full day of free activities.
Park entry will be free Aug. 1, with the celebration running from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
A guided hike starts at 10 a.m. at the Little Twig Trailhead. Activity booths open at 11 near the natural playground, followed by a free lunch and ice cream social from noon to 1:30.
The park’s anniversary program starts at 1 p.m. Live music by Raw Sugar runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sunne Farm band shelter.
The celebration is being held alongside Kids’ Weekend and Sheyenne RiverFest.
RiverFest check-in starts at 8:30 a.m., with the paddle launching at 10 from the National Fish Hatchery near Valley City and Fort Ransom State Park.
RiverFest registration is separate and costs $20 for individuals or $50 for households of up to six people.
Fort Ransom State Park is located in the Sheyenne River Valley and includes part of the North Country National Scenic Trail. The park is 40 miles south of Valley City, between Litchville and Lisbon.
