The North Dakota Monitor is reporting on the declining waters at Lake Sakakawea in an exclusive this morning.
The lake stood Sunday at about 12 feet below average after low Rocky Mountain snowpack and continuing drought reduced runoff into the Missouri River Basin. The Monitor reports some marinas and boat ramps can no longer be used.
State officials told The Monitor that low-water ramps submerged for nearly 20 years may be needed next summer, while resorts, parks, and boaters contend with fewer access points now.
