By Jacob Waltman, KSJB (Jamestown, ND) The 9-man football playoffs kickoff this Saturday, and KSJB will be broadcasting the #4 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter, Imperials and the 7-2 TGU Titans. Our coverage of the game will begin at 1:30 pm and kickoff is set for 2:00 pm Saturday, October 24th.
#4 Napoleon Gackle Streeter (8-1)
The Imperials enter the playoffs as the number 4 seed in 9-man playoff seeding. Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter was able to put together an impressive season with only having a single loss on the season to undefeated Linton-HMB, in a narrow lose, 34-30. Outside of losing Linton-HMB, the Imperials have been nothing less than dominate on both sides of the ball, scoring no less than 48 points and allowing no more than 14 points.
The Imperials also look to build on strong post season from last year. In the 2025 playoffs, the Imperials were able pull off the upset over #4 Alexander, 36-22, before they would lose to #5 Hankinson. Advancing to and beyond the quarterfinals of the playoffs would be significant step for such a young team in Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter.
TGU (7-2)
TGU enters the playoffs with a strong record of 7-2 and has an opportunity to show they can compete with the top teams in the state. The Titans started the season with four straight wins, before eventually losing 42-0 to Alexander. TGU would then have wins over Westhope/Newburg/Glenburn and Surrey before falling to Lewis & Clark 32-0. The Titans finished the season on a high point, beating Mohall-Lansford-Sherwood 14-0. However, TGU will need to be at their best in order to beat the Imperials on Saturday, as they are facing a high-power offense and defense that has allowed few points.
Keys to the Game
- Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter – Establish their offense and find their rhythm early on in the game. The Imperials will also need to take care of the football, as they gave the ball away a few times last week. Finally, take advantage of playing at home with your fans, with them bringing the energy all game long.
- TGU – TGU needs to keep their offense on the field and sustain long drives to keep the dangers Imperials offensive on the sideline. Defensively, TGU needs to take the ball away to give their offense more opportunities to score. Finally, TGU needs to create their own energy on their sideline, as they are going be playing away during a playoff game.
