Though opioids are briefly effective for pain relief, the misuse, risk and dependency associated with them is prompting hospitals and clinics to consider holistic methods of pain management. Jamestown Regional Medical Center will launch an opioid-free pain management service line in January 2026, bringing advanced chronic pain treatment to the region for the first time.
Established in partnership with Holistic Pain Management, the clinic will treat chronic pain from arthritis, spine conditions, neuropathy, migraines, and post-surgical recovery using evidence-based, non-opioid options including nerve blocks, targeted injections, medication management, and advanced interventional procedures, according to a press release from JRMC’s Cami Hirst.
“Introducing pain management is a meaningful step in JRMC’s commitment to expanding specialty care in rural North Dakota,” said Mike Delfs, JRMC President and CEO. “We are proud to offer an option that supports long-term health and reduces the burden chronic pain places on individuals and families.”

Morgan Croves, NP, will provide consultations and develop personalized treatment plans. She brings more than eight years of experience in critical care and pain management, with degrees from the University of Jamestown and University of Mary.
“Chronic pain affects nearly every part of a person’s life,” said Mercede Fiebiger, JRMC Specialty Clinic manager. “By offering advanced, opioid-free treatments close to home, we’re ensuring patients can access the care they need without long wait times or long-distance travel.”
Patients requiring interventional procedures will have access to a CRNA with advanced fellowship training in pain management.
“Access to this level of expertise is uncommon in rural healthcare,” Delfs said. “No patient should be required to travel long distances to receive essential pain treatment. Our partnership with HPM and the addition of a fellowship-trained CRNA ensure that high-quality care is available right here.”
