Jared Hagert, 2025 House of Representatives

A North Dakota state representative, Jared Hagert, has resigned from the North Dakota Legislature and is expected to take up a position in the U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency, as first reported by the Red River Farm Network.

Hagert is an Emerado-area farmer and a key figure in North Dakota tax policy. While the exact title hasn’t been made public yet, Hagert says the move is a chance to bring an “Upper Midwest perspective” to federal farm policy.

District 20 has 21 days to appoint someone to fill the vacant seat in the House.
