The Dickey County Leader’s Ken Smith reports Applied Digital is responding to local questions about its growing AI data center campus near Ellendale.
In a question-and-answer story with the Leader, Applied Digital executive Nick Phillips said the company’s Ellendale site shifted from earlier blockchain infrastructure into a larger artificial intelligence campus as demand for high-powered computing grew.
Phillips said the facility uses a closed-loop cooling system that recirculates water, rather than relying on large-scale evaporation. He also said stormwater runoff is handled through retention ponds and drainage infrastructure.
The story also addresses road concerns around the project. Phillips said Applied Digital is funding roughly 6-million dollars in road paving, along with work on Highway 11 west of Ellendale expected this summer.
