NDSU Aging in Community Program Launches in Dickey County

Jul 27, 2026 | 8:45 AM

Older adults and caregivers in Dickey County have a new place to turn for help finding services that can make it easier to remain at home.

NDSU Extension has launched its Aging in Community program in the county. Alicia Glynn is serving as the local coordinator from an office on the lower level of the Dickey County Courthouse in Ellendale.

The program is open to adults 60 and older and their caregivers. Extension says it is not a home-health provider. Instead, it helps residents find transportation, housing, health and wellness programs, social activities and other community resources.

There is no fee for residents. Funding comes from Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies and the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services.

NDSU previously tested the model in the Lisbon area and western Morton County. Volunteers in those areas provided more than 800 rides covering 60,000 miles from 2022 through 2024.

People seeking help or interested in volunteering can call Dickey County Extension at 701-349-8323.

You can read more information about the program in this week’s Dickey County Leader newspaper with reporting from Ken Smith.
