Wildfire smoke is expected to produce hazy skies across central and eastern North Dakota today.
The National Weather Service says smoke is moving into the region behind a cold front. Some of it could mix down to ground level and linger through the day.
Strong northwest winds will accompany the smoke. Gusts could reach 40 miles per hour in Jamestown and across the James River Valley.
The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality says people with heart or lung conditions, older adults and children should limit prolonged or strenuous outdoor activity when smoke affects the air. Anyone who sees or smells smoke can close windows and doors and set home and vehicle air systems to recirculate.
